The Natixis Adopt-a-School program is a unique
partnership with the City of Boston that enables private companies to make a direct and sustained impact on Boston Public Schools.

The goal of the program is simple, yet powerful. Through technology upgrades, facilities enhancements, social services support and special volunteer programs, local businesses partner with individual Boston schools to improve learning environments and enhance student education.

Natixis Global Asset Management is one of the largest asset managers in the world and believes strongly in investing in education. The company, whose U.S. headquarters are on Boylston Street, launched the Adopt-a-School Program in partnership with the City of Boston in 2012.

Recognizing its need for additional resources, Natixis “adopted” the Winthrop Elementary School in Dorchester. During the past three years, Natixis has worked closely with Winthrop faculty, staff and students on a variety of initiatives – providing new laptops, iPads and smart boards, launching a structured recess program, and creating an outdoor garden, among other things. Natixis has also developed a highly successful mentoring program that brings about 45 employees to Winthrop to mentor individual students each year.

“My business career has been about identifying and making good investments,” Natixis CEO John Hailer said, “and I can’t think of a better investment than Boston Public Schools.”

During a recent address to the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce, Boston Mayor Marty Walsh highlighted the tremendous impact of the Adopt-a-School program, particularly in the areas of technology, mentoring and the arts.  He invited local Winthrop Elementary School students to the stage to share their thoughts on how the Natixis partnership has changed their school experience.  Finally, Mayor Walsh urged other businesses to get involved and invest in Boston’s economic future.

“Our schools of today contain your workforce of tomorrow. Help us make sure they are ready to take flight,” Mayor Walsh said during the Chamber event. “Help us scale up the Adopt-a-School program to transformative heights, and create another Boston model for the nation to follow.”

Massachusetts is recognized as the national leader in education, in part because of its commitment to public schools and innovative programs like these. Learn more about the Adopt-A-School Program, Natixis Global Asset Management and its community involvement initiatives here.
